Lupus
Auto-immune disease where the immune system attacks organs many causing inflammation.

Occurring often in women of childbearing ages, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (Lupus), is an auto-immune disease that causes unpredictable exacerbation and remission. Inflammation occurs in the gastrointestinal tract, joints, skin, brain, serosae, lungs, heart, connective tissues of the joints and muscles, and kidneys. Often, it causes widespread vascular lesions. 80 percent of Lupus patient’s first symptom is a joint or skin problem. The mal-absorption of nutrients is usually a problem as well.
Before a diagnosis of Lupus, the American Rheumatism Association requires four of eight symptoms to be noted. These possible symptoms include:
1. Arthritis
2. Butterfly rash on the cheeks
3. Mouth Sores
4. A low white blood count, low platelet count or hemolytic anemia
5. Seizures or psychosis
6. The presence of a specific antibody in the blood (found in 50 percent of victims of Lupus)
7. Sun sensitivity
8. The presence of abnormal cells in the urine
1 in every 700 females is now reported to having the change of getting Lupus in her lifetime. About 90 percent of people diagnosed with Lupus are young women and children (Goldberg, 1995), and black Americans are 3 times more likely to get Lupus than white Americans (Medical Advisor, 1996).
Solutions to Lupus
Lupus patients are found to be deficient in mannose and galactose, which are 2 of the 8 glyconutrients. By supplementing Mannose and galactose and all the other 6 glyconutrients, the body is able to heal itself from all of the inflammation throughout the body, and the immune system begins to stop attacking the good cells. The result is no more symptoms of the disease and no more immune dysfunctions.
Glyconutrients are like the alphabet language of our cells. Instead of using 26 letters, our bodies use 8 hexagonal glyconutrients to communicate to each other. Every cell in our body requires an adequate amount of these glyconutrients to communicate correctly. When they are missing, they cannot communicate correctly, and this causes the cells to malfunction and become unhealthy leading to diseases and disorders. Glyconutrients are known worldwide to improve basic body physiology, improve the immune system functions, and improve organ functions in our body. For all people, not just those with Lupus, glyconutrients are vital to our health for cellular communication.
